Once upon a time...

Dave and Tammy met online and merged their South Dakota and Minnesota lives. Dave was framing in Canton, South Dakota for a corporation with headquarters in St. Cloud, MN. God arranged for a transfer, and the South Dakota native found himself in Buffalo, Minnesota.  Unfortunately, after a couple of years as senior framer for Creative Memories, the framing division was shut down and replaced by digital storybooks.

Dave’s favorite place is the Black Hills of South Dakota and Tammy’s favorite place is Northern Minnesota, especially near Grand Marais. By combining thoughts of their favorite places, Northern Hills was created. Dave’s passion is framing, and Tammy’s passion is teaching students with Emotional Behavioral Disorders. If Tammy gets to pursue her dream, it is only fair for Dave to pursue his. A business plan was developed, funding was secured and Northern Hills Custom Framing began out of their home in Maple Lake, MN. Dave and Tammy both feel blessed to be able to pursue their passions.

Dave has a unique eye for art. He is blessed with ‘vision’ which enables him to create the finishing touches on art and family heirlooms. He is meticulous with his work and his own worst critic. Dave is patient and gives great attention to the details. Tammy stays away from the art, and helps with the office work—and that is a very good thing!
